There were no hints for this puzzle. Teams were told that they would be given credit for the puzzle so long as they gave the answer to GC before the Game ended.

Solution

Each of the first 12 tracks on the CD matches one of the words on the cover:

1. Japanese
2. Christmas Carol

4. Refrain

11. Soup
12. Rival

The 13th track suggests the correspondence between solfege (do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do) and the musical scale (C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C).

The words on the cover, in addition to matching the tracks on the CD, can also be interpreted as a list of phrases, and each phrase clues a four-letter word consisting of two solfege syllables:

Christmas Carol Refrain = FA LA
Sticky Swamp = MIRE
Extinct Bird = DODO
Japanese Soup = MISO
Drew Carey Rival = MIMI
Taxi Cost = FARE

Putting these syllables in the order of the CD tracks gives MI-FA-FA-LA-DO-MI-DO-RE-MI-RE-SO-MI or, when "translated" into musical notes, EFFACE CD EDGE. On the black bottom of the actual CDs, near the edge, there was a region with some White-Out colored over with black marker. Underneath that region, we had scratched out: INDEX 345481. Indexing into EFFACE CD EDGE in this way gives FACADE.
