Solution

All of the concepts depicted in the Figs. can be described with two-letter acronyms, much like the ZF5:

1. FT (Fourier transform)
2. TM
3. E.T.
4. HR
5. VR
6. IR
7. Rx
8. OJ
9. KO
10. NO (nitric oxide)
11. BO
12. UK
13. UN
14. UV (ultraviolet; also a reminder that may have proved useful later in the game)
15. EU
16. SF
17. MS
18. BS
19. SI
20. Nintendo DS
21. XS
22. LA
23. XL
24. K-Y Jelly
25. XY coordinates
26. AC
27. MC Hammer
28. CB radio (along with our team's favorite code)
29. CD
30. G.I. Joe
31. GE
32. pH (a nod to those ridiculous Spirit deodorant ads)
33. PJs
34. NP
35. our snarling VP
36. PA
37. IP address
38. PE
39. HQ
40. IQ
41. WD-40
42. 1040EZ

Place these acronyms in the grid, just as ZF has been placed. All of the entries in a particular row or column will include the same letter. Write these letters above or to the right of their columns and rows to get the string FHJKNVAMBIDEXTROUSLYCGPQWZ. The letters corresponding to the columns and rows in the bolded corner spell out AMBIDEXTROUSLY, which does happen to be the proper way to open a gun made of two plastic cups taped together.

This was supposed to be a fun warmup puzzle that would get the entire team shouting out answers. We thought about giving a corporate presentation using easels and large pads of paper or hiding the pictures all around the Albany Bulb, but cost and timing concerns led us to go with PowerPoint slides. (The Albany Bulb is full of cool artwork, but most of it is about 15 minutes away from the parking lot.)

(Zorg) Bravo, bravo. Head to Albany Hill Park. You'll know which street to take; pick the north branch. A word on stealth: You may leave your ZF5 materials in your vehicle from now on. The mercenary look doesn't go over so well in parks, residential areas, etc.
